PSD Staff "Going for Gold" at the 2024 Welcome Back Event

Yesterday, August 28, the Peninsula School District held its annual Welcome Back event, marking the third year we've gathered as a district the week before school begins. This year's theme, "Going for Gold," brought energy and excitement to Roy Anderson Field as we prepared to kick off the 2024-2025 school year.

The day began with staff attending various professional development sessions designed to inspire and equip them for the year ahead. We also hosted our "Partners in Learning" vendor fair, thanks to the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, offering a unique opportunity for staff to connect with local businesses and community organizations that support our district.

Our special speaker, Lyndsay Morris from Generation Wellness, delivered a powerful presentation that resonated with our theme of excellence and wellness. We are incredibly grateful for her insights and the wonderful music that set a positive tone for the day.

In the spirit of the Olympic Games, we celebrated our new staff members by awarding them gold medals, and everyone joined in on the fun with a series of games that brought out our district's competitive and collaborative spirit. Vaughn Elementary School took home the coveted Spirit Award, while Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce President Miriam Batteson was honored with the Hugh McMillan Award, and Mary Casely received the Bill Simpson Award for their exceptional contributions.

The day concluded with all PSD staff walking the track in a symbolic "Walk of Schools," and forming a giant “PSD” for an awesome drone photo taken by our ROTC students, reminding us of our united goal to inspire and empower every student, every day.
